my name is orion xiao.

i work as a software engineer at mixpanel.

previously, i built things at january and triplelift.

before that, i studied finance at nyu.

my special interests include:

• befriending corvids - specifically, the crows and blue jays who visit my fire escape
• playing golf (13.8 index, usga ghin #13089576)
• an on-and-off relationship with old school runescape
• using claude to write frontend code

led a team of 4 and took a lot of internal tooling from 0 to 1 (ci/cd pipelines, devboxes, etc.) as the eng team grew from 14 -> 40+.

first job out of college. worked on big data pipelines powering customer-facing reporting services, as well as low-latency high-throughput ad servers used for real-time bidding.
